The Beer List: My Notes On Beer (This is not my master thesis :)

I had been exclusively a red wine drinker until recently, and I am by no means an expert in any sense on beer (however I do have a certificate from the beer gardens at Epcot Center that says different LOL), but anyway, this is a list of all of the types of beer we've had in the house this year, I'll keep updating it as we try new ones!   These notes do not reflect the opinion of my husband, who also happens to buy the beer, so he has no one to blame but himself if my opinions should happen to embarrass him. :)
  • Sam Adams Nobil Pils: a good all-around beer
  • Sam Adams Coastal Wheat: yuck- reminds me of that lemon Alka-seltzer stuff you drink when you have a cold (if a guy in a bar ever try's to buy you one of these, RUN).
  • Tennants of Scotland: has about as much presence as A Bud ultra-light.
  • UFO pale Ale: Nice! should be called a creme Ale, a bit of floral and vanilla.
  • Walters Pilsner: A classic, light with a hint of honey.
  • Spaten Optimator: clove, honey, dark & heavy with a bite, almost a wine or cider.
  • Victory Lager: good stuff, crisp & dry, no after bite.
  • Mc Sorley's Pale Ale: good color, full bodied, crisp, with ginger & honey.
  • Sam Adams Blackberry witbier:  very berry, lots of honey, sweet and floral.
  • Red Stripe Jamaican Lager: NO CHARACTER, very disappointing.
  • Stoudts Gold Lager: bold, light in color, with a good hearty after bite.
  • Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus: I laughed at this beer for days, the can could not get any more feminine, but it's a perfect "yard work" beer.
  • Bud light with lime: this is ok, when it's really, really hot out, and it helps if you don't think of it as beer. :)
  • Franziskaner Heffeweis: A.K.A "the crazy monk"  love this beer! good cold weather beverage.
  • Stella Artois: Should be a standard beer on tap anywhere you go, but it's not. My favorite all around beer.
  • Asahi: super dry draft, earthy and smooth.
  • Saranac October Fest: Reminds me of camping in the fall, perfect round the campfire beer.  Woody, Clover, light taste of honey, and a bit smokey.
  • Brew Works Raspberry beer:  I'm not a fruity beer person, unless your squashing a lime wedge into a Corona, there's just no excuse to fruit the beer, but I liked this one, great compliment to spicy food:)
  • Sam Adams Summer Ale: I feel really guilty that I have nothing nice to say about this beer, I wanted to like it, it's character wasn't substantial enough to make an impression.
  • Stoudt's American Pale Ale: This beer makes me happy. It's versatile, refrigerator staple, compliments whatever your serving for dinner, doesn't overwhelm your favorite recipes if your using it for cooking.
  • Leinenkugels Sunshine Wheat: This is a horrid concoction, something went seriously wrong here :(
  • Troegs Sunshine Pills: Light & Cheery, good with clams.
  • Warsteiner Dunkel:  I did not like this beer the first time I tried it, but I gave it a second chance the next day, and found it to be pleasant smooth dark bold brew.  It's really the kinda beer you have to be in the mood for :)
My husbands going to be pissed when I start blogging about his cigars.
