kitchen tricks

We use baking soda for EVERYTHING! It's amazing that that little square box that costs less than a dollar can replace almost everything in your cleaning arsenal. Eliminating all those plastic bottles with one cardboard box made good sense to me. Also it's better for the septic system, and there's no chemical fumes. I scrub my sink and bath tub, deodorize my fridge, and sprinkle it in the litter box and diaper pail. But cleaning and baking are just the most basic of it's many uses.

A few of my favorites are:
Quick facial exfoliation:
Make a paste in the palm of your hand with baking soda and water, massage in circular motion all over face avoiding under eye area. Rinse with cool water and pat face dry.
Whiten you teeth:
Make a paste with hydrogen peroxide solution (just that stuff everyone has around) and baking soda in a little bowl, put it on your toothbrush and brush your teeth, rinse and spit.
We're snowed in, and that's fine with us! I have a sleeping baby on my lap, play dough in my hair, and no laundry to fold. Simply good.
